Cyclopean

Founding members of Krautrock legends Can, Jaki Liebeziet and Irmin Schmidt came together in 2011 with longtime collaborators Burnt Friedman and Jono Podmore to form the new ensemble Cyclopean. The group's imaginative hybrid of electronic and organic instrumental music with hints of Middle Eastern influence grew over the course of a single session at a French studio and the best results of that session make up this self-titled debut EP. The largely instrumental compositions blend jazzy flourishes with a mesh of electronic and organic rhythmic accompaniment, as on the meandering "Knuckles." ~ Fred Thomas
