Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! [OST]

Forgoing the ham-fisted orchestral and pseudo-electronic scores of its first two films, the popular Sharknado franchise gets hip with a collection of rock, pop, and punk tracks on the soundtrack for its third film, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!. Proving that there are no rules in the Sharknado universe, a motley collection of artists has been assembled to donate songs like "Shark Rain" (Eddie Cole) and "Shark Truck" (the Dead Kennedys' East Bay Ray) to this freewheeling set. Washington, DC is the locale for Oh Hell No!'s sharknado touchdown, though the overwhelming surf punk and pop vibes here feel more indebted to California than the East Coast. A synth-pop cover of the Pixies' "Wave of Mutilation," an industrial rendition of Mission of Burma's "That's When I Reach for My Revolver," and the surprising inclusion of a brand-new Camper Van Beethoven song called "Long Way to Go (Sharknado)" all give the soundtrack an unexpected connection to '80s college rock. ~ Timothy Monger
