White Lightning: Lost Cadence Sessions '58

Link Wray's 1958 instrumental hit, "Rumble," with its unprecedented guitar distortion, is often hailed as the progenitor of hard rock. However, its edgy sound and provocative title drew fire from uptight conservatives, and Cadence label head Archie Bleyer, who had to be coaxed to release "Rumble," dropped Wray before its full-length follow-up, WHITE LIGHTNING, could be released. Here it is in all its glory, with deliciously nasty guitar licks spewing bad-boy attitude all over the hard-driving grooves of the Ray Men.
